What is there to say about Osaka, Japan's Watusi Zombie? They are the truest embodiment of what rock should be. They are the rock band of a new generation: Watusi Zombie. You're sure to be hooked without even knowing it! We saw them play once during their first US tour, and they rocked so hard that they had the coolest hipsters in LA banging their heads. This all in the land where crossing your arms and standing perfectly still at a show is mandatory. If that wasn't enough, their drummer, Meguru, took his whole drum set to the floor to make sure that everyone there felt his thwap. The other members joined too.

These guys are comprised of one drummer and two guitar player/singers, and they rock. The split with Bipolar Bear is one of the finest records we've every released just because of these guys (not that Bipolar Bear are slouches or anything). They have an amazing sound, and I wouldn't doubt it if they get a ton of recognition in both Japan and the US. They have played with bands like DMBQ and Afrirampo in Japan and they performed at Fuji Rock Festival 2005.

"Watusi Zombie are rock stars. They already know this and are just waiting for the rest of the country to figure out how much they rock. With this in mind, they were the perfect rock band to kick off this year's Rookie A Go-Go stage. Tanimura and Yasuzato took turns singing all of the night's rockin' songs. With a giant Daibutsu (now that rocks) draped over his mic stand, Tanimura was definitely the more powerful singer of the two. Yasuzato, with his shaggy, garage rock hair, was equally as effective in delivering the rock though." -- Fuji Rock '05

"Watusi Zombie dares you not to have fun, jump out of your skin, dance spasmodically, and generally worship them. The three punk darlings of Osaka, Japan’s Watusi Zombie have enough energy between them to power California. They will renew your faith in kick-ass rock and roll. The audience at the Funhouse bounced in a joyful, sweaty heap until, by the end of the night, drummer Maguru dragged his kit down off the stage and played blissed-out in a sweaty, sonic mess with guitarists Anri and Jugem right in the middle of the small Funhouse floor. I love this band!" -- Redefine Magazine
